Anton Dvoraks beautiful String Quintet will be a treat and a lighthearted composition mixing Mozart and the bagpipe tune Scotland the Brave will be one of the tricks when the IOnissimo! String Ensemble presents a concert in IOns Eastlake Park in Mt. Pleasant, SC on Sunday, October 28th. at 4:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Children are welcome. A blanket or folding chair is suggested for lawn seating.
The musicians will use the porch of the Ranis Familys unusual octagonal house at 163 East Shipyard Road as their stage. The audience will find seating beneath the Oaks on the grass of adjacent Eastlake Park. In case of rain, the concert will be held at 236 Ponsbury road in IOn.

This concert is being sponsored by Peris Homes. There will be an open house with refreashments at one of their new homes in I'On. 244 Ponsbury Road (pictured above) at 2:30, prior to the Concert. Prior to the concert at 2:30, sponsor Peris Homes will hold an open house at 244 Ponsbury Road. Cider and Halloween ginger snaps will be served. The IOnissimo! Woodwind Ensemble will be in rehearsal at the house for their concert the following month. Anyone interested in joining IOnissimo! as a musician is encouraged to attend the open house and meet IOnissimo! co-director Peggy Orange. The group is currently seeking a trumpeter, bassoon player and additional violinist to complete some ensembles.
Music
programmed for the concert includes Dvorjaks
only string quintet for violin, viola, cello and string bass.
Bass player Carolyn Ferrell will join the group in public performance
for the first time for this concert. A lighthearted piece in
the tradition of PDQ Bach will weave together Mozarts famous Eine
Kleine Nacht Musik and phases from the enduring bagpipe tune Scotland
the Brave. Other familiar music references will be found in
this extended musical joke. Hyden String Trios and a cello duet
will complete the program. Prior to the music, Dt. Tom Kindel
will play bugle calls to announce the concert.Performing will be
Vannessa Chambers, Cello; Julia Hamilton, Violin; Marlena Davis,
Violin; Mary Ann Spivy, Viola; and Carolyn Ferrell, string bass.
Laura Lenoard, Violin; Steve Leonard, Violin; and Melanie
Vanderwege, Cello will also play.
This concert is being sponsored by Peris Construction, builder of fine homes and commercial buildings in IOn and Mt. Pleasant.
