Brass Concert at Shelmore Point

Special Note, Sept. 14- This concert will be held as scheduled, however in view of recent events, we ask that I'Onissimo! Brass - Dick Foreman, Tuba; Dr. Tom Kindell, Trupet; Anna Draft, French Horn.all boats in the spectator fleet fly the flag of the United States if possible.  An invocation and additional patriotic music will be included in the program.  Our thoughs and prayers go out to the victims of the attacks on our national community whose hopes and values this event affirms.

An audience afloat in Hobcaw Creek will join picnickers at Shemore Point in I'On, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Sunday, September 30th. at 5:00 pm when I'Onissimo!, the Chamber Music ensemble of I'On Village, begins its second season with a gala sunset brass concert at the Creek Club.  The concert is free thanks to the sponsorship of Grace Salonspa.  Children are welcome.

The I'Onissimo! Brass Quintet will perform classical, romantic, patriotic and popular music.  Several pieces by John Phillip Sousa will be included on the program.  Playing will Dr. Tom Kindel, Trumpet, Bugle; Anna Draftz, French Horn; Robert Juzups, Trombone, Dick Foreman playing Tuba and other guest musicians.  Prior to the concert, bugle calls will be played around I'On announcing the start of the music.

View of Creek Club Porch from Boat Anchorage AreaThe technicians of Grace Salonspa (884-3248) will provide relaxing shoulder massages prior to the concert to help prepare people to enjoy the music.  The Square Onion will operated a food and drink concession at the concert to help raise funds for the I'On Trust.  Complete gormet picnic baskets from the Square Onion will be available for delivery at the concert by advance order.  Call 856-42GO to order.  Usage of the concert site, featuring the widest porch in the South Carolina Lowcountry which will serve as a stage for the musicians, is being graciously donated by the I'On Club.

A boat anchorage will be established in adjacent Hobcaw Creek under a permit issued by the SCDNR during the concert.  Boaters will be able to listen to the music and enjoy the moonrise and from their anchored boats.  Boats anchoring must have a printout and diagram from the I'Onissimo! website (www.awod.com/hamilton) on board.  Blankets or folding chairs are suggested for lawn seating under the Oaks at the Creek Club.

The Square Onion is located on I'On Square in Mt. Pleasant, SC. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The I'On Trust for the support of civic and cultural live in the East Cooper area.
