.Mt. Pleasant, SC - Four free family concerts will be presented outdoors at the new Mt. Pleasant Amphitheater on Westlake in IOn Village on Sunday afternoons as IOnissimo! begins its third season. The public and their children are welcome to attend, picnic and enjoy wonderful music by the East Cooper communitys armature and professional musicians.

Blankets or folding chairs are suggested for outdoor hillside seating. This fall a special area will be available for families to set up canopy tents at the top of the hill. Musicians interested in playing with IOnissimo! this fall are invited to contact Julia Hamilton at 849-8481. You do not have to be an IOn resident. The group includes musicians from Snee Farm, Brickyard, the Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, Dunes West and other parts of the Lowcountry. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome. Some members play only for part of one concert, while others tackel ambitious musical pieces. I'Onissimo! currently has Brass, Woodwind, String and Vocal groups. A children's ensemble may be started this year.
The Charleston Community Band will begin the season on September 29 at 4:00 pm with a crowd pleasing program of big band tunes, patriotic standards and other music for large band. The Band has over 80 members. This concert will climax an afternoon which also includes the Eastlake Open Kayak races. Many people are expected to listen to the music from their kayaks bobbing in Eastlake behind the stage. This concert is sponsored by The Hamilton Law Office. I'Onissimo1 is please to have the Wando High School Band Boosters providing conesessions for this event with the assistance of Mt. Pleasant Chick-fil-A to benefit the Wando Band, which must raise 100 thousand dollars per year to support band activities at the school.

Brass before Boo is the title of the October 27, 4:00 pm concert by the IOnissimo! Brass ensemble. Sousa, brass settings of popular Beatles Tunes and selections inspired by the scary season will be on the program. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to this concert. This concert is sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Chick-fil-A.
On Sunday, Nov. 10 at 4:00 pm the IOnissimo! Woodwind ensemble will play a program titled Winds of Autumn. The winds are known for eclectic concerts that include jazz, classical and often, a sing along. The music will be as varied in color as the leaves falling around the lake. This concert will be sponsored by Bill and Peggy Orange.
The IOnissimo! Strings will conclude the fall series on Sunday, November 24 at 4 pm with a program of classical and romantic music for string quartet. Concert details are now online. This concert will be held across the lake from the amphitheater, where a small pocket park at the Southwest Corner of the lake will be adapted to an intimate concert space more functional for string music, with a small acoustic shell.
