Boat Achorage Area Instructions Brass Concert at Shelmore Point, September 30th. 2001 |

Please have a printout of this page aboard your boat the day of the concert.
This page is under development. Please check back before the concert for details. We want to make your outing as pleasant as possible.
We ask that all boats in the spectator fleet fly the flag of the United States if possible as an affirmation of our Nation's values and hope.
This boat anchorage has been established pursuant to a permit issued by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
North is at the top of the Map at right. The anchorage areas are located on the forth bend up from the Wando River on Hobcaw Creek, going towards Wakendaw Lakes.. A general location map of the area is at the bottom of this page.
The Boat Achorage area on the West Side of the Creek (The larger one) is appoximately 75 feet wide and 350 Feet Long. The Deepetst water is towards the Center of the Creek.
The Boat Anchorage area across the creek from the Creek Club Dock is smaller, about 50 feet running north from the center of the Creek to the marsh and about 100 feet long. The deepest water here is towards the center of the creek.
The concert will be where the red square is located. The Sun will set about 6:06 p.m. and the moon will rise about 5:30 p.m. The tide will be about 2/3rds. in by the start of the Concert. Boats drawing 3 feet or less of water should not have any problem anywhere in these areas not immediately adjacent to the shore.
The Tide will be running in, starting at the top of the map, rounding the bend and continuing upstream towards Wakendaw Lakes located off the right side of the map..
Boats should carry extra bumpers (old life preservers hung over the side will do) to avoid any boat damage should boats bump against each other. Space is limited. Mike Purcel will have a boat in the water (Center Console, V Hull, No.___________) and will supervise the anchorage area. DNR officers are also expected to be in the area. Our space for boats is limited and use of the anchorage area is first come, first served. Please follow Mike's directions and the directions of the DNR officers present.
