Map and directions to this concert

The I'Onissimo! Brass Quintet will present music from the last four centuries in a program titled "Golden Brass, Silver Lake" on the porch of the Eble family at Eastlake Park, 171 E. Shipyard Road, in I'On Village, Mt. Pleasant, on Sunday, April 29th. at 3:00 p.m.  The concert is free. The audience is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating.  In case of rain, the concert will be held indoors at 32 Sowell Street.

Composers on the program include Corelli, Handel, Irving Berlin, Nigel, G. S. Bach, John Phillip Sousa, Samuel Scheidt, and Peuerl.  Styles will include baroque, turn of the 20th. century marches and popular music, and New Orleans Jazz.  During the concert, the musicians will make short presentations on the history and capability of their instruments.  Prior to the concert, Dr. Tom Kindel will call I'On residents and visitors to the music by playing army bugle calls from Eastlake Boathouse.

Playing will be Brian Osborne, 1st. Trumpet; Dr. Tom Kindel, 2nd, Trumpet, Bugle; Anna Draftz, French Horn; Robert Juzups, Trombone and (making his first appearance with I'Onissimo!) Dick Foreman playing Tuba.

Music for this concert has been selected to capitalize on the unique resonance of the Eastlake basin.  Certain notes, sounded on brass instruments, hang in the air for as long as two seconds because of what people have called, "the Eastlake effect."

The family of Joe and B.J. Barnes is sponsoring this concert.  It is supported by the I'On Trust, a non profit community foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life in the East Cooper area.  For more information and directions contact I'Onissimo! on the web at www.awod.com/hamilton/ or by calling 849-8481.

I'Onissimo! is currently seeking clarinet, bassoon and oboe players to complete a woodwind quintet under the direction of Peggy Orange (884-3080). Musicians from within and outside of I'On are welcome to join and play.
